The ribbed barsare obtained with a heat treatment process that consists of the controlled cooling of the different products that comprise them. The main ribbed bars are 400 or 500 depending on the characteristic resistance they present. According to Eurocode 2, ribbed bars are classified as a high “ductility” steel, a ductility that makes this steel an ideal material to combine with concrete.
The main characteristics that define the ribbed bars are: the ribs, which are the grooves that appear on the longitudinal axis; the fins, which are the continuous projections that appear parallel to the longitudinal axis; the core, which is the part of the bar that is not affected by the ribs; the maximum height of the rib (a) or fin (a1), the spacing or inclination of the ribs, or the nominal diameter of the ribbed bars.
